Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler (Hedy Lamarr)

Born: November 9,1914

Hedy

Hedy Lamarr was the genius behind the basis of things we use every day. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Her invention of a radio signaling device was known to be the main pillar of today’s countless wireless equipment. Hedy Lamarr is one of my favorite computer science superheroes because without her work we wouldn’t have the ability to connect different devices wirelessly. Without her work, we wouldn’t be able to be connected to the internet, which allows us to complete things faster, more effectively, and efficiently than in the past. Without her, we would still be using maps or blindly going into “the unknown”.
